with meaningful Bar and Bat Mitzvah Celebrations
We Americans are blessed with stylish and splendid Temples
with learned Rabbis as spiritual advisors. Synagogues have
almost unlimited material resources. Bar and Bat Mitzvah
celebration are spectacular, almost like weddings. This
should be a blessing.
What are we to do, however, if Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah or
Confirmation are revolving doors, an estrangement from
Judaism? What are we celebrating when the ceremony is a
rite of passage out of religion? Temple Shabbat Shalom
offers an alternative.
All spiritual education at our Temple is a focus on the
family. We do not and never will have a drop off Hebrew or
Sunday school. Every Bar and Bat Mitzvah is a family
event. Synagogue and leadership skills are taught to
parents and children. Torah reading and Haphtarah are
learned on computer with the help of a Trope Tutor.
We have a travelling Torah and will bring it to your celebration.
Temple Shabbat Shalom is a non-denominational synagogue in
